Ingredients
- 250 g Nonfat milk (1 cups)
- 60 g raw Frozen banana (2.1 oz raw)
- 20 g raw Baby spinach (⅔ cup raw)
- 6 g raw Fresh mint leaves (⅓ cup chopped)
- 2 g Vanilla extract (½ tsp)
- 35 g Vanilla whey protein powder (1.2 oz (about 1¼ scoops))
- 8 g Dark chocolate, finely chopped (0.3 oz)
- 100 g (a handful) Ice cubes (a handful (about 3.5 oz))
Amounts are for 2 servings. Calories and macros above stay per serving, and amounts in the method are for 1 serving.
You'll need: Blender, Cutting board and knife, Tall glass.
Method
-
Chop the chocolate
Chop the dark chocolate very finely on the cutting board, so it will be like chips in a scoop of ice cream.
Chop it fine. Big chunks stick in the straw.
-
Load the blender
Pour the milk into the blender first, then add the banana, spinach, mint leaves, vanilla and whey.
Spinach gives the shake its green color and you can't taste it, but the mint is strong; start with 6 g.
-
Blend and stir in the chocolate
Add the ice cubes and blend for about 45 seconds, until thick and smooth. Pour into the glass and stir in the chopped chocolate with a spoon.
Stir the chocolate in by hand, not in the blender, so it stays as flecks.
Common mistake
Adding too much mint. It turns the shake into toothpaste; start small and add more if you want.
Storage
Best fresh. It keeps a few hours in a sealed bottle in the fridge; shake well.
Swaps
- Vanilla whey protein powder → Casein or a whey-casein blendThicker and more like soft-serve.
